What a truly wonderful Show! It was an honour to be invited to judge the best of over 9,300 dogs at this most sophisticated and elegant of summer shows. Thank you to all the committee and officers, who so generously and thoughtfully went out of their way to make my time here so very enjoyable … and they more than succeeded even down to the weather for BIS, which could not have been more perfect for showing dogs.

Both the main ring and the white picket fenced show suites boasted flowers rivalling those of the Hampton Court Show down road while the organisation of the BIS ring was efficiency personified with a smart pink coated committee member stationed at each of the group winners boards.

All seven group winners had not only the best of temperaments but were so beautifully presented and handled to make an impressive line-up of five dogs and two bitches. First of all, the males:

German Spitz Kline, Ch Minigarden Emil Lovely Boy (Imp), well named, now seven years old, in abundant mature coat. He has a lovely head eye and expression, well balanced with high set tail, such a willing showman and brisk mover.

Bedlington, L’end Show Metti surprise at Glare. In splendid coat and condition, enjoying himself to the full and obviously loving every moment. Impressive in outline and balance, constantly alert with a most intelligent expression in his bright sparkling eyes. Truly light, springy and stylish on the move.

Bouvier des Flandres Liskport Lord of the Rings (ai). Well grown and powerfully built for his 19 months with a handsome masculine head and dark, well shaped eye. A happy, friendly character, very enthusiastic on the move with good reach in profile.

American Cocker, Fin & Lux Ch Very Vigie I Don't Know. Ultra glamorous buff in the most splendid condition. Stylish and energetic on the move holding himself with the greatest of pride.

Maltese dog, Ch Zumarnik Stars N Stripes. A very sweet playful character, in good coat of superb texture with excellent pigment.

Now to the two bitches, who perhaps unusually, conquered all with, first of all, the glorious Greyhound Multi Ch Jet's Moonlight Serenade.

Just occasionally there is a truly great dog, who has the ability to capture your heart …. and this description she fulfilled with every fibre of her being. Quite outstanding in every way with a beautiful head and such a superior expression in best of coat and hard muscular condition. Simply a joy to handle with her superb confirmation and balance, this being proved by the excellence of her free effortless movement, holding herself with such pride. Truly poetry in motion. Quite lovely. Best in Show.

Bearded Collie bitch, UK Fr Ch Victory Wind's Ghost Whisperer for Snowme. Superb for make, shape, size and type with such a beautiful head and most intelligent expression in her dark sparkling eyes. She moved to match her confirmation looking as if she could go all day with no trouble at all. Such a happy willing showgirl. Most impressive. Reserve Best in Show.

Thank you to all exhibitors and, again, to Windsor committee and officers not only for this most exciting of appointments but for making it so very happy and enjoyable.

Roll on Windsor 2016!
